Photographer of the Year

Tumbling Waters retreat

Recently I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at an exclusive, beautiful location called Tumbling Waters retreat at Stanwell Tops. I was so impressed with the variety of images that can be arranged, and the sheer stunning natural beauty of the location that I have created a special Gallery highlighting my favourites. See the full set of images here. Until next time, Kira http://www.artphotobykira.com.au/ Wedding Photographer of Year 2009. NSW AIPP Wedding Photographer of the Year

I was surprised and thrilled to be awarded the 2009 NSW AIPP Wedding Photographer of the Year! Unfortunately, I was away [on my honeymoon] when the award was announced, so I could not attend the presentation. This comes on the back of winning the SWPP International Wedding awards earlier this year. I am so proud of this particular award because the standard in Australia is very high, and to be recognised in this way by my peers whom I respect enormously; is a great priviledge for me. My Wedding

David & I married today at a beautiful garden ceremony at Everglades Gardens, Leura; with a reception held at Silvermere, Wentworth Falls. I keep telling him that I had to marry him as it was cheaper than employing him as an assistant! Everyone wanted to know who would be my photographer, and what I would wear. Well, I was not going to have anyone tell me how to pose [as you can imagine], so we didn’t have an official photographer. I am fortunate to consider the photographers who work with me to be firstly my friends. Even though there were guests who were taking pictures anyway, my photographer friends couldn’t help themselves at the ceremony. Thank you guys! My gorgeous dress that I dreamt of was made by a wonderful dress maker. A beautiful find. Yulia McAuley. Special thanks to everyone involved, especially Lew & Cathy from Silvermere who were simply great. Catering for our night was provided by Paul and Vickie of Paul & Vickie’s Gourmet Catering. Their food and service has to be seen to be believed. Recommended by Lew & Cathy, their food and service was outstanding! Liza Abela, with whom we have worked before was our DJ. reach her via email here. Nicole & Julian

Avid South Sydney Rabbitos supporters Nicole and Julian married today. Sealing a romance that started 3 and half years ago at Uni where they met. The couple chose the amazing and spectacular Tumbling Waters Retreat at Stanwell Tops; about an hour’s easy drive south from Sydney. The facility oozes style and sophistication. Perched on the edge of the escarpment with uninterrupted views down to the Pacific Ocean; words cannot fully describe this venue. Ideal for smaller intimate weddings and receptions the magnificent sandstone and floor to ceiling glass structure provides an ambience that can only be described as world class. A unique wet edge reflecting pool cascades over the edge providing amazing photographic opportunities to the ocean beyond. I only wish I had more time to fully exploit the lighting and scenic opportunities found around the gardens and buildings. Nicole and Julian were lucky enough to have almost perfect light for their afternoon ceremony along with a spectacular sunset, followed in the early evening by a moon rise over the ocean. Thank you both so much for sharing your day with me, and allowing me to express my creativity by being such willing and co-operative subjects! The couple are leaving on an extended 5 week honeymoon covering New York & Europe. Special thanks must go to Sonja and Hannah from Tumbling Waters along with all the staff who provided not only excellent service; but also served the most tasteful, varied and exciting gourmet food I’ve had at a wedding. I recommend this venue to anyone, not just for weddings but also as a retreat & health spa. I can’t wait to work on their images! Follow this blog to be notified when their images will be available. I couldn’t wait to work on at least this image! This is just a sneak-peek at what is to come! Have a look at their wedding images here.
